An island and Japan are helping in the reunification of the two Koreas in an unpredictable way. Dokdo, the disputed island lying halfway between the Koreas and Japan has brought the two Koreas together more than anything. The common interest to protect national territorial integrity and Korean nationalism against their historical enemy, their former harsh and unkind colonial master Japan prove too powerful and urgent that the two Koreas may be nudged to work closely and faster to a faceoff against the ambitious and aggressive Japanese encroachment.

The Korea Japan relationship will be a key factor and a tricky one for the Americans to manipulate South Korea and Japan to be part of its containment of China plan. And if the two Koreas reunite, the unified Korea will be as good as out of the American influence in the region. And Japan will be all America had, and Japan will be alone to deal with its western neighbours who onced was colonised or partially colonised by her.
what i posted is just my personal view. feel free to disagree.
